The time has come where I finally have to pay back that dreaded student loan. UGH!
I was floored when I went to transfer the monthly payment into my USA bank account-I got nailed with like 20.00 in fees. I just can;t see myself paying these fees every month. Does anyone know the best way to make payments to a company like Sallie Mae from Korea? |

| go to your bank and get an international bank card ( not all banks will give them to foreigners so you may need to take a Korean with you ) . send the card back home (EMS at the post office is pretty secure ) and get your parents to take out the required money and pay the loan for you or put it straight into your US account so you can pay it online. The fees for me are about $4 per transaction. |

| Best to setup internet banking as the fees are greatly reduced then. Try to enquire about internet banking, I was able to get and if you are told otherwise you are getting fobbed off. |

Sallie Mae has some crapas policy that the money has to come from a USA bank.  |

| I'm doing this with Sallie Mae right now. THe fees are not a big deal to transfer. Send back larger chunks to make several payment and do not touch your american account. How much are your payments. Send 2,000,000 home at a time as the fees do not go up with the transfer. It will be 20 on the US end and 15,000 won or so from the Korea end. This is part of coming here and something that should have bene anticipated. |

| I'm kind of in the same boat. I was planning to start making payments soon also (not sure if it's due in December or January...really should keep up on that stuff, I guess). Now, with the won getting worse and worse, I'm not sure I can really afford to make the payments now. It seems that every time I think I have my finances settled, something else happens that keeps making things worse. |
