Hey,
It's coming up to that Crimbo time of year and I'm thinking about gifts for the old folks back home. One idea I was thinking of was a PDA but I'm worried that they'd all be in Korean (which would make sense, what with this being Korea and everything). Obviously, computers can be installed with English windows, but can PDAs bought here be all-English too?
Also, what sort of price do PDAs run here? I don't think it needs to be all singing and all dancing...probably just calendar, appointment book, address book...that kind of thing. |

I stopped paying attention to the 'PDA' market a while back. But I'm sure you could find some in Yongsan.
PDA's have generally been replaced by cell phones and the such. Also you should put the price range you are looking to spend so people can give you recommendations. For the features your looking for you could find one under 100,000 won easy. But would the people actually use them?
You could get an Ipod touch for 265,000 that is a PDA and a whole lot more. You could also preload it with some of their favorite music and ebooks. Stanza is a free e-book reader, and it has 1000's of free e-books for download as well. That would be an awesome gift. It has a built in calender and note program, along with a web broswer and another thousand other possibilities.
The negitive part is that there would be a steep learning curve for an older person. But Apple has tutorials set up where you could send them links too.
And you would'nt have to worry about different plugs, etc, because it charges from USB.
I know you said you didn't want it to sing and dance though... |
