I would personally get the D90 if I had to choose between only those two options.

With the D90 being able to capture HD makes it a pretty sweet deal.

But it really comes down to what features appeal to you most. Both have a few features that the other doesn't. I think the D200 might be built tougher and be weather resistant, while the D90 has some other practical consumer features that you might find interesting.

You can't really make a bad choice either way. Both are cool.

D200 is a superior camera, but older technology ... so things like battery life and noise handling won't be as good as in newer cameras.

regarding specs, D200 is better. 5fps, magnesium alloy body (fully sealed). yadda yadda.

for most hobbyist shooters i'd recommend the D90 though. it's easier to wield and people have been getting a hard on for this whole 'movie' rubbish ... and you probably won't miss the refinements that the D200 offers anyway.

so, that's your simple answer.
