For the past year, 2 of your busiest intersections (near the river) have been unnecessarily congested due to nonworking traffic lights. How the confused, irrational drivers in this country aren't constantly slamming into each other at these intersections is beyond me. I do my best not to stop in your town, especially since any money I might spend would not go to making your lights work properly. I'm sure there are some smarter engineers or electricians in Seoul that would be happy to show you the reason why your lights just flash on and off for no reason. If you bought them a bus ticket out of your town, they would probably be happy to flick the correct switch and make your lights operate as well as your city safer to pass through.

If you wish, City of Yongin, you may PM me and I'll be happy to stop in your town and show some of your police officers how to get off their ass and direct traffic during busy traffic times. I'll due this free of charge knowing I'm not going to be hit by a car the next time I pass through your area.

Sincerely, BB

Dear City of Yongin, 6 months have passed and your stoplights near the bridge STILL don't work.

I hate your city now, even more than before, because your city officials are incompetent.

What will it take for you to understand the insanity of your intersections? Maybe your grandmother will get hit by a car? Maybe your child? You are taking chances with lives, including mine, and I hope your beds are filled with moldy cheese tomorrow.

There's a pedestrian signal near me in Yongin that flashes red and green at the same time.

"Mayor of Yongin, Seo Jung Suk: Welcome, and thank you for visiting the Mecca of the IT Industry and the city of culture and tourism, Yongin."

I suggest that you take your complaint directly to the mayor and have those lights fixed! If needed, make an appointment to see the man himself and drag him to the site and show him those lights. I dare you!

You can later tell us how it went. Maybe he will bestow you the much coveted honorary Yonginite status? *^^*

Good idea, but after months and months of thousands of Koreans and public officials passing through the center of Yongin and being aware of the problem, the voice of one foreigner isn't going to change a damn thing.

One fact I neglected was maybe, just maybe, the lights work during business hours on the week days. It still doesn't make up for the congestion and hazards on the weekends.

Um, no. Koreans don't look at traffic lights when they drive, so they'll never notice on their own.

Functionality are aesthetics and mutually exclusive here. Traffic lights aren't supposed to work, grass is not intended to be walked on, just look around, the list is endless.

...but we design damn good mobile phones!!!

Dear City of Yongin,

I had the displeasure of going through your city twice a week a couple years ago. It was nasty. Unfortunately, I was there a couple days ago and I see nothing's changed.

By the way, I love the 5 way intersection with no stop lights...always fun.

The light your talking about has been that way since...2004.
I used to go there at 2:30 in the afternoon Mondays and Wednesdays and come back at 5. I feared for my life everyday I was there.
