This Sat. 9-5, there will be a very practical, teacher friendly workshop. Nice location, seconds from Gangnam subway station. Supported and paid for by Footprints Recruiting (but that's all - no speeches or anything). They tell me there are some spots available.
GO HERE for details / map.

You can pay at the door but RSVP at the above. It will be a small group (max 60). We will do many things and I'll first go over some micro teaching skills and discuss what is a "good" lesson.
Then - flashcards/using ppts / Essential - no extra material lessons / Mini group lesson sharing / Using Videos in the classroom / Games in the classroom / Round table discussion about coteaching-relationships.

Basically, I'll be sharing what works over a wide spectrum of classrooms and levels.

Cheers,

DD

rationality,

Keep warm in d'em der woods...Maybe next time. This is just the first of what I hope are a series of annual teaching skills workshops.

I also forgot to mention -- all those who attend will get a certificate of attendance. Something for your portfolio.

Cheers,
DD

Chinaboy -- the venue (multiple rooms), refreshments, certificate, and other costs are paid by Footprints. That's all and I applaud their own efforts.

The cost - 20.000 won for Footprints teachers/alumni and 25,000 won (not 30,000 as indicated) was my request. Footprints wanted no fee but I insisted on a nominal fee by teachers.

Why? Well, over the years, I've found that if teachers pay a nominal fee for their prof. development, they partake more in it and feel better about and partake more in their own teaching improvement. It is more psychological than anything but it is true nonetheless. If we pay for something, it somehow has more value for us than otherwise....

There is a nominal fee as I described above.

I don't think teachers who sincerely want to improve and bring some new ideas into their classrooms will hesitate because of the cost of 20,000 won. Especially given that they will get thousands of free resources along with instruction on how to use some of them.
