Hey,

I have one of those electronic locks where you just type in a code, no cards or keys or anything. The brand seems to be "Captain", which is written in English. It was on the apartment when I moved in (which is not through my school) and I want to change the door code, so nobody who has used it previously can get it, but can't seem to work out how.

On the front, it has numbers 0-9, a button with a picture of a key on it, and a button that says "Start/Finish" in Korean. To use the lock, you press the start button, type in your code, then press finish and it opens. The key button seems to do nothing except beep when you press it. I'm guessing this has something to do with setting the code, but for the life of me, can't work it out.

The back of it has a few buttons (open/close/unlock) and a section you unscrew, which only seems to have batteries in it.

I'm hoping I'm not the only person with this brand of electronic lock so someone can advise me on how to change the code (don't want to ask my landlord...no reason to be suspicious of him, but I'd rather just change it, especially before I go away over Christmas).

Most code lock doors have a small pinhole on the inside panel (facing indoors) that is about the size of a toothpick.

If you press that in, you might here a beep, then enter your new code and press "lock/unlock" to set it.

I don't know the specific brand, but that's kind of a universal approach.

Oh, and make sure somone stays inside to be sure you can get back in if you screw it up.

Any switches or buttons on the back where the batteries go? I have a switch next to the batteries, which is only visible when I remove the back of my door lock. I have to put the switch into a different position, after which I can enter a new code for the door. Put the switch back and now the lock should work as before only with the new code.
