How do you guys beat jet lag? I'm going to Canada for one week for Christmas break, and I don't want to be a zombie.
I took melatonin for a week or so to get sorted when I came here. I also made a rule of trying to stay up all day and go to bed with the country.
Any other ideas? |

I recommend sleep deprivation.
When you land stay awake until the next normal bedtime after you have been awake for 24 hours after landing.
Did I say that right? |

Are you on a red eye flight landing in the morning? If that's the case, I like to nap for a couple of hours as soon as I arrive. Then I force myself to wake up no matter how tired I am and find I've instantly adjusted. If I don't take that nap, I will probably become tired in the evening and might fall asleep at 8 pm and wake up at 3. |

I agree, stay awake as long as possible, at least 24 hours, then try to go to bed at a regular time in the new place. This will kick start the time change and it will take about a week to fully adjust (you'll feel a little out of wack for a while but over all allright. |

That is the #1 and best way to beat jet lag. There is no better way, really. |

a friend of mine told me there is a pill that creates zero jet lag effect. But as well i read about a study and tried it myself and found it definitley helped quite a bit...wear sunglasses as much as possible. The lights, be it either outside or in a room don't penetrate the eyes as much and because of that it helps ease the mind and body into the time zone. Giver a go, i found it helped for me.

I tried sleeping pills once to try and set my body to the right time.....it didn't work at all, infact it was worse. I slept and then felt tired as shite anyway and it took longer to adjust....
I stick with the tried and true method now. |

Pills are called "No-Jet-Lag" they're homeopathic. I haven't used them myself yet but my sister took them when she came to visit a couple of months ago and she was bouncing about, right as rain the day after she arrived.
So I suppose they do the trick. Made in New Zealand and I don't think they're available here yet, had to have my sister bring some over with her. They have a website that has a supplier list www.nojetlag.com |

If possible schedule your flight to arrive later in the day. When I go back to the US, I try to arrive in the late afternoon. Stay up until your regular bedtime.
For 24 hours before I leave I avoid caffeine and alcohol.
When I get on the flight, after the first meal is served, I take one sleeping pill. Usually that puts me out for 4 or 5 hours. |
