Anybody ever worked in the chaum and jarimaekim ets school in daegu. they offered me a job and i spoke to one of the teachers who said id have to work for my money but that they always paid on time and were generally a good place to work for, he was just signing up for his third year. They have been in buisiness for 3 years and i asked all the usual questions to the director during the interview and was given what i believed were satisfactory answers, however, this is the first job iv applied for and im very skeptical after all the negative stories iv heard. i will speak to another teacher shortly but basically im looking for some advice . . . what do you think? |

it's normal to be nervous.....
....i had read a million horror stories before i came. i interviewed with a few places and ended up accepting a job where i am the only foreign teacher at a school i'd never heard of in an area i was unsure about. all i had to go on was the current teacher's recommendation and in the back of my mind i was worried he'd say everything was great just to find his replacement.
i've been here for a few months now and have no complaints about my school and am glad i took a 'chance' on it. go with your gut after talking to the current/recent teachers. it'll always be a risk, just try to make it as low as possible! |

sound advice, i appreciate your post. thats what i was thinking, make the risk as low as i can and take a chance, i lost my job here and and am having to work packing pies in a factory as the job market is absolutely dire here at the moment so it cant be worse than that! |

I had exactly the same experience as mekku, landed on my feet really.
Follow your gut, if there are warning signs or doubts, dont take it. Also, avoid shody recruiters as it increases your chance of a shoddy hagwan.
Despite the negative stories some schools and directors are good, research before and you should be cool |
