Do you care if the North closes Kaesong? |
Nah, let them close it. It's their loss. |

Yeah, I think it needs to stay open as a foot in the door for Unification. |

So, the North has been incing towards closing up the border... and I'm curious, do they think anyone actually cares?

Proving its earlier warning that it would restrict cross-border exchanges was no joke, North Korea has demanded that the number of South Korean workers at the Kaesong Industrial Complex be reduced, and has cut the hours during which border traffic is permitted. |
I remember reading late last year that almost none of the businesses there show a profit. So, other than the lost equipment, maybe the North would be doing us a favor if they closed Kaesong. (?)
What do you think? |

South Korea working with North Korea to run a facility that provides cash so that North Korea can build weapons that could kill millions in South Korea. Never did see the "Sunshine" in this policy. President Roh was (and is) a nut job. |

To be honest, I think if China and Russia weren't potential problems, I would welcome a full-scale invasion of North Korea so those horrible concentration camps could be shut down, and so Kim Jung Il could be placed on trial for crimes against the North Korean people. I don't believe in the death penalty, but if he had the same fate as Saddam Hussein, it would be what he inflicted on others... |

None of the above. I want it to stay open so I can go there. |

In my view, this is just one more step by the Norks to try to manipulate the population down here: first, they warned the South not to elect Lee Myung-Bak; then they played along with the radicals down here to embarrass the government with the anti-beef fiasco; third they deliberately killed that woman at the Keumgang resort, which ended up with the South shutting down tourism; now the Norks have shut down a source of income for themselves in an effort to make the southerners feel as if relations are getting so bad that it is a return to pre-Kim Dae-Jung days.
I say, let 'em whine. Lee's policy of reciprocity is correct. The danger is in the 'progressives' down here convincing the public that what they thought was right before the election is wrong. They weren't. The public is/was right. Help the North, but for every truckload of aid, the Norks should have to give up something. |

Yes, I care! It's a good thing that Kaesong is closing so cash isn't flooding into to a dictatorship that treats its people like slaves. Every bit of money that the South Koreans throw at that dictatorship goes to the enslavement and murder of North Korean people. They are aiding and abetting murderers by any economic cooperation whatsoever--not to mention they are feeding the enemy bent on destroying them.
I imagine with the closure they're keeping the millions in capital equipment and supply that South Koreans foolishly and immorally gave to them. Everyone involved in Kaesong is a traitor to South Korea and is guilty of treason and aiding a bloodthirsty dictatorship. |

Although the Sunshine policy has been carried out poorly. There always should have been some reciprocity beyond a few symbolic gestures. I think the closing of the industrial complex is not a good thing. What really makes the issue complex is China. They are busy investing in infrastructure in the northern provinces and buying up North Korea's resources. If the shit hits the fan and N. Korea collapses China will be rolling into N. Korea and taking control. Unfortunately there are a number of generals in the North's army that are willing to let that happen. South Korea needs to invest as heavily as it can in North Korea in order to get it's foot in the door once everything starts to go haywire. North Korea knows it and abuses it for all it is worth. Unfortunately the south doesn't have much choice. |

I don't want it to close, but I wish even more that the moronic Roh administration had never allowed the development of something the Norks could pull the plug on because of any whim in the first place. |

I doubt that 'every bit of money' was used for these purposes. I'm sure some of the money was used to finance KJI's cognac affinity, sexy stripshows (featuring women, not KJI hopefully), and his gang's other assorted predilections. |

I personally think the sunshine policy is the way to go. Give the people a taste of wealth. Fly planes over dropping US dollars, handguns and Happy meals. Then kill KJI and watch the place fall apart.
More seriously, did anyone see the BS special on NK last night? They got hidden cameras into the country somehow. Kids dying on the streets. Farmers watchin crops 24/7 because of food theft. |

Is 'BS' a channel, or do you mean it was bullshit? And do you have a link? |

I wouldn't know, because I've taken a moral stand not to visit the hellhole that is NK until the current regime falls and is replaced by a government that respects its own people.
Until that happens, I'll be damned if they see a single won from me. |
