Great replies guys....love hockey talk.
And yes Alfie is a skilled hockey player, but as long as he is captaining the Sens, they will never win.
Look at what happened last year when Emery was embarrassing the team by showing up late for practice, suckin up more blow than a vacuum cleaner and playing like an ECHL goalie.
WHERE WAS THE CAPTAIN???
Could you imagine things getting that out of hand on an Yzerman team? or on a team Messier was captaining?
On another note, favorite Leafs of all time are Clark, Gilmour, Domi, Cujo, Baumgartner, Potvin, Zezel, Leeman, Andreychuk and Russ Courtnall.
Honourable mention: Bester, Borchevsky, Dan Daoust, Salming, Macoun, Domi and Daniel Marois. |

The Islanders also have been in "rebuilding" mode and in both cases just looks like a minor league team. No wonder Ted Nolan is off of Long Island: he wants to win and playing rookies and scrubs is not the way to do it.
The saddest team in the league this season is the Dallas Stars, with a worse record than Toronto, but at least with a legitimate NHL roster of Modano, Lehtinen, Richards, Morrow, Zubov, Turco, even Parrish. They got to celebrate a career milestone for Modano the other night and the team has an excuse for their poor play: injuries. And Avery.
Toronto wants a second NHL franchise in the market? I laugh every time I hear that. It would be fun to see how a first year expansion team stacks up against the Leafs. ... Burke has a lot of work to do.
It's good for the franchise that Sundin not return. A couple of years ago Sundin and Belfour were winning games when the rest of the team played mediocre hockey. Game after game, if the team won, it was because of Mats or Eddie. It is the trademark of expansion teams to have a token star or two and a bunch of scrubs. Call it the Thrashers formula.
Okay, I've spent waaaay more time on the Leafs than they're worth this season.
I'll end with a mention of my fav Leaf of all time: Yushkevich. In the playoffs he stopped Jagr and Lindros in unlikely upsets of Pitts and Philly. A remarkable defenseman defensively, the best I've ever seen in the blue and white. |
