I'm looking into purchasing Dead Space for Xbox 360 but am not sure whether I should purchase the NTSC-U/C version, or the NTSC-J region free version. The region free Asian version of the game has English, or at least that's what it says on the PlayAsia.com website, and it's a lot cheaper. Has anyone played the Asian version of Dead Space? Is the interface in Japanese? Can it be changed to English?

Funny enough I went to Yongsan last Wednesday (after a field trip) and went downstairs to the usual place where they sell games and looked for some games for my North American console. One tip is not to buy from the people close to the front as their prices will be higher due to a higher rent for their stall, makes sense I guess. For example I was curious about Call of Duty 5 and was first quoted 78 000 won at the beginning and halfway for 75 000 won and finally toward the back 72 000 won. I explained how I had a U.S. console but they showed me the games that were region free and in English. The Call of Duty 5 game was actually printed in Singapore so it was all in English (previously a buddy had bought COD 4 but the menu was in Korean along with the in game text making it hard to know what the objectives were) which was tempting but still 72 000 won is still a big chunk of change.

Anyway this one guy that I talked to, his English was good and he also sold USED games which really caught my eye. He suggested some games that were in English and Dead Space was one of them so I'd put money on the fact that it will be in English. I would have considered it but I downloaded it and got it for my PC. I ended up getting Mercenaries 2 (used U.S. version) for 35 000 won and a brand new copy of Spiderman Web of Shadows for 30 000 won so I was happy. All in all I'll go back there in the future. Good luck.................

Yeah, Yongsan... That's a little ways from Jeju. I was looking at some still frames and the door signs in the game appear to be in Japanese. I wonder if this can be changed. Or if it even matters. Or if the still frames are for the Asian Xbox only. Well, I guess I should play through BioShock first. I just can't put down GTAIV. The online is so addicting.

Would you kindly let me know what you think of it when you're finished?

If anyone buys the Korean version of COD 5 can you let me know if it's english. I know the play-asia version is region-free and english, but I know alot of games have a korean version that is different to the asian ones you find on play-asia.

The strict Korean version that you would buy at Emart, etc. would most likely be Korean menu and Korean text, with English speaking, as I stated above was the case with COD 4. However at Yongsan they had the imported
"Printed in Singapore" version which was completely in English, so there you go. Additionally if you are at Emart or another store simply look at the back of the game. With basic Korean you can tell if it's in English or not:
You will see a picture of a pair of headphones and it will either say Hangul or Yong-o and for the language part it will either say Hangul or Yong-o. Hope this helps.
