Nope. We have plenty of asians in New Zealand, and no one stares at them. The two countries are not the same. Some countries are more mature than others about foreigners.

It seems to me, in the short time I've been here, that the staring is a reaction of a surprise. Interest, too, but surprise, mainly, because there really aren't that many Westerners here. I've seen only two others, and I was sorely tempted to stare, too!

Also, I think some of the ladies are checking out my clothes. They give me the feet to head sweep, whereas the men and the kids, as far as I've noticed, stare full at my face.
