Ahenakew is on trial for the second time on a charge that he wilfully promoted hatred against Jews during a public speech and subsequent interview with a Saskatoon reporter in 2002.
The former national chief of the Assembly of First Nations called Jews a "disease" that started the Second World War.
Crown and defence lawyers were scheduled to make their final arguments in the case Friday afternoon. Provincial court Judge Wilfred Tucker was expected to take some time to consider the case before handing down a verdict.
Under cross-examination, Ahenakew testified that he first learned Jews started the Second World War as a teenager living in Saskatchewan. He said many European immigrant families living in the area told him so.
After joining the Canadian military at 17, he served in the Korean War and later learned the Jews had started that battle as well, he said.
Jews started most conflicts, Ahenakew said, as far as the news told him.

I can only assume the nutcase thinks that the North was controlled by Jews because it was communist.

I was first exposed to anti-semitic conspiracy theories as a teenager, when Keegstra was put on trial in my home province for spreading hatred. As a result of media coverage of the trial, by the time I got to Grade 11 I could recite the ins and outs of the International Jewish Plot To Control Money And Fake The Holocaust And Poison Wells and Burn Cathederals And Stage Orgies Attended By Sigmund Freud And Karl Marx's Daughter.
Granted, I probably would have encountered some of this stuff in due time anyway, as a result of perusing the ideologically kinkier corners of the internet. Still, it must say something about the utility of Canada's hate laws that as a result of their enforcement, I garnered a full Cliff's Notes understanding of what exactly it is that anti-semites believe.

As a proud Saskatchewanite, this guy is stain on our image.
He's a spoon-fed 'First Nations' who got given a free ride in politics, even got the Order of Canada, then after these anti-semetic comments, he was ordered to give it back but he refused. What a loser.
I hope he gets run over by a car on his reserve. |

Many Europeans have espoused anti-Semitic views. Jews have lived in all parts of Europe, and there weren't any organized Jewish groups except for the World Zionist Organization which started basically in the late 19th century. World War II was caused largely because of the unfair settlement of World War I, and the collective anger that Hitler used to rouse the German people to build his war machine. The Jewish people or organizations had no real role in World War II.
In World War I, the WZO was allied to Britain and helped Britain, because they wanted land in Ottoman Palestine, and the Ottoman Empire was allied to Germany, which was the enemy of Britain. The Zionists of that time did not represent most Jews, and some of the Zionists cooperated with people who were killing Jews in Russia, because they happened to be Leftist Jews. That's basically how the Jews of Europe fit during both World Wars. They were victims of both wars. He is feeding into the myth of the Protocols of Zion of massive Jewish power all over Europe.
There were many influential Jews in Europe, but their power was limited as demonstrated by the Dreyfus Case, and the framing of a Jew due to anti-Semitism in France.
I don't wish any harm on this Native person. I wish that he would correct his ignorant views, and I would be more than happy to correct him. People sometimes hear things from people they like who have been good to them, and they take it as gospel, and this is what happened with this fellow. He doesn't mean he is really a bad person; he is rather ignorant and being an extremely anti-Jewish. I think he should read about history, talk to some Jewish people, and apologize for his statements. |

It just shows how powerful they are when people are prosecuted merely for committing heresy against the Zionist religion. |

Nope. There are plenty of critics of Israel out there in the media who aren't touched. Judaism has even been deconstructed as have other religions. None of Joseph Campbell's works have been banned from what I've heard of. |

I believe this to be true. Inarguably, Jewish interests control the mass media in North America. I begs the question, how fired up to prosecute Ahenakew would they be, had he been railing against Palestinians or Moslems? |
