I've ordered take outs from dominoes and mcdonalds. Are you supposed to tip the delivery guy? I feel kinda guilty ordering 6,000 won of food. I mean, it is winter..and the dude is riding his scooter...

I never order in, so no.

I do tip taxi drivers though (round up to the next chun won). Not much, but hey.

I'll throw in a little extra to the taxi drivers that get me home safely without giving me an uneccesary tour on the way home in my stupor as well.

Tipping out of obligation sucks. But, there is nothing wrong with tipping a little something to those who you feel earned it. It's a nice gesture. They appreciate it.

Reasons for tipping in Korea:

- to avoid small coins (e.g. I had dinner at the Interconti for 30 Won less than a hundred k, so I left that with the cashier - odd feeling though). Also for taxi rides except see below.

- to get the attention of a particularly cute waitress (although just asking for the phone number works as well)

- to reward the taxi driver who picks me up in the early morning hours at the bottom of hooker hill, smelling of god knows what, and without comment accepts to drive me to Gangnam (that's normally 10k for a 6.7k ride if I have no smaller bills; I just can't count change in that state of mind). After pissing away 100 to 200k there's no way I could get upset for 3 more.

Apart from that, nobody wants, nobody gets.

It is not an obligation; it is not expected. Giving a bit of a tip will leave a good impression, but don't over-do it.

Waaaay back when I was a newbie, I left W1,000 as a tip and the bar maid chased me down the street to return it.

If a Hawaiian visited Alaska, would he wear shorts and a T-shirt? No.

I don't tip, its not a korean thing at all...

However, if you get a workman or someone over to your house, its a general rule that you give them an energy drink/vitamin drink or something....

McDonalds delivers?

Yep, some of them. I can think of two, in Bangbae and next to Kim's Club near Express Bus Terminal. Right around the same time they started going 24 hours.

To answer the OP, nope.

02.1600.5252. Enjoy!

(At least that's the number I call, it's a general number. They speak English. I've ordered at 2am before. I'm fairly sure it's 24hr, but don't know if they serve breakfast when it rolls around.)
