Anyone know how standard it is to get reimbursed for visa costs? Before when the Japan visa runs were in place the employer paid these. Now visas are obtained beforehand and with costs of obtaining CRCs, many express posts, other docs and visa costs, etc. it can run up to several hundred bucks or more. Has anyone ever been reimbursed?
I heard some places give teachers some cash upon arrival to help them get by at first. How standard is that now? |

It's not standard at all.
But negotiations can go far. |

I got 300,000 won when I arrived. I took responsibility for the visa costs. |

| I pretty much ate all the visa costs from before I got here. It bothered me because it ended up being pretty expensive. But then I figured it was just one of those things, and now I'm more interested in what money comes to me in front of me than behind me. |
