What is involved in the medical, i read a post about needles....????

I have applied to several recruiters, all have replied, how do research their company, or do i reply to all of them until I have a secure job?

What do I do once I have my CRB (in the UK)??

The medical before you get here is somewhat of a joke. You fill out a form on Immigration's site, basically saying you're not bringing AIDS to Korea. When you get to Korea, your school will then have to arrange to have you take an actual physical medical check. It will mainly look for drugs and that sort of thing, but they will also check sugar levels and most regular things, like eye sight. For me, they actually caught something that needed to be taken care of, but it didn't cause any problems with me being here in Korea.

In Korea, the one needle you will have is a blood test. The drug test is a piss test.

Before Korea, you may want an needle or 2 depending on the vaccination you need.

Mostly you are looking out for employment fraud which is very prevalent in the Korean EFL industry. Try to read my report on "ASK Now Contract Fraud" as well as other Korean frauds. Tokyo Jon maintains an excellent Korean Hagwon Blacklist http://blacklist.tokyojon.com/ where you may run a search for your dirty Korean hagwon and fraudulent recruiter.

Here is just one recent example of another Korean hagwon getting accused of refusing to pay the promised salary. http://forums.eslcafe.com/korea/viewtopic.php?t=138895 As you can see, the stinking Korean fraud cannot keep his word about anything at all, especially the promise to pay the Korean salary.

For your crb in the uk, you need to get it apostilled at the foreign commonwealth office in sunny milton keynes. The link is: http://www.fco.gov.uk/ It costs about 25 quid I think. You also need to get a solicitor to sign it. Purcell solictors do it for a fiver across the road from the fco. You will also need to get your degree done, so it probably a good idea to get it done at the same time. I went to Milton Keynes and got it done there and then, because otherwise it will take a much longer time.

As for the med check. Yes there is a needle. But if you close your eyes and turn your head then it really isn't bad. And that is coming from someone who has a big time phobia of the things.

I had quite a few recruiters on the go when I was looking for work. It helped me compare their different approaches, and also kept things open. As for researching their company, ever thought of google? Or daves? There's bound to be info about them on here if you do a search.

As regards recruiters; you will generally find that most get some positive and some negative reviews. It's best just to run a search in google by typing in the name of the recruiter and then adding eslcafe. ESL Planet are a good recruiting company...I'm sure some have had a negative experience with them but they did well for me. Even if you don't end up going through them to find a job, they will still help you out with any general queries you have - they are all expats themselves, so communication won't be a problem.
