There are some links on the Korean Yahoo site, click the link for English and then you should be able to find it easy enough.
There are also 4 series of videos on youtube, which I've found to be more helpful than the online courses. I like the "hello Korean" series the best.
There is also the sogang university site, but it's pretty difficult if you're starting. |

Thanks I'll check it out. I can speak a little and can read at a low level but I think it's about time I learnt properly so I would start at the beginners level. I think this will be one of the activities to pass the time while I warm my seat through winter vacation. |

koreanclass101.com has a small amount of free content and you can also sign up for a free one-week preview to see if you want to become a paying member. It is cheap compared to a live class and they have a lot of audio files that you can put onto an iPod and a forum where you can ask questions and get help.
Songang online has good content at intermediate level, but the sound quality is terrible, especially at the beginning level. |

Have you tried the Arirang Let's Speak Korean program? http://www.arirang.co.kr/index.asp
You have to make an account first and then you can watch the VOD. |

I was going to suggest contacting my wife. She teaches Korean to foreigners, but then I noticed you live way up north of Seoul. |

There's enough free content to give you an idea of what you can learn from this site. If I were to purchase a membership, I'd simply get the basic subscription. I don't see a need for line-by-line transcripts or line-by-line audio excerpts in my case since I am well above the intro level. Simply having access to all of the podcasts would be sufficient for me.
I like this site becuase it uses young bilingual Koreans to teach the lessons, but you have to put up with some bilingual and dorky Westerner named Keith. Sorry Keith. There's a ton of support in the comments section of each lesson and a forum. It's probably the best online Korean course you will find. If you find a better one, please let me know.
Tip: If you get the free week of access, you will get bombarded with emails asking you to subscribe. Each email offers you a little bit more discount, so if you are interested wait until the very end of the trial period to subscribe. |

I'm happy to get the Rosetta Stone program for free....as soon as I finish the Spanish course, I think I might work on either the Korean course or the Chinese course....
I especially love v.3 |

Thanks everyone. Movybuf cheers. The funny thing is I am married to a Korean lol. But given our work schedules etc and the fact that her English is very good (she is a great teacher) we have'nt had the time or motivation to move past basic stuff like alphabet and survival Korean. Also I want to surprise her a bit.
Her family want me to learn more so we can talk and I can feel more involved (they are supportive and non-pushy). So I will try all of these online suggestions, looks like I will have a lot of seat warming time. Cheers again. |
