BBC report....
The US warned India about a possible threat at least a month before last week's Mumbai attacks, US media have quoted unnamed officials as saying.
One official said India had been told of an apparent plot to launch an attack from the sea, the AP agency reports.
That was pretty poor intelligence wasn't it. |

US probably paid these gunman to kill as many as possible, just to let the public know terrorism is still around so they have something to legitimate their shitty wars. Ah well, just makin' more enemies, thanks again guys. |

Someone actually in the US can correct me if I'm wrong here, but I don't get the impression that this incident is having much effect on American public opinion in regards to overseas military adventures. Is there any sort of groundswell of sentiment along the lines of "Gee, guess we'd better stay in Iraq for another 100 years, or maybe bomb Iran to smithereeens, 'cuz look what these crazies just did over in Mumbai!!" |

Do you see such calls featured headlines at CNN, MSNBC, Fox, New York Times, Washington Post, et al.?
This story remains about South Asia, the War on Terror, and Indian-Pakistani relations -- and is not necessarily directly relevant to the Americans in Iraq. |

No, in fact, even on Fox, the Mumbai glory-hounds are having to compete with Hillary Clinton and the CEO of GM for headline space. |

That is EXACTLY what my fear is. The neo-cons will try to use this as an excuse to lobby for another foreign adventure. |

Striptease club owner Michael Galardi has been the biggest fish try get fried so far. http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/metro/probe/20031104-0835-nv-corruptionprobe.html
We used to be the land of the free and the home of the brave. Now, some Americans live in so much fear that the Patriot Act was passed and the only result was a guy who runs a club full of scantily-clad women got busted. People who live in fear and need the Patriot Act to bust striptease club owners are like LL Cool J before he started wearing Swagger from Old Spice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-XBvuwLuEc |

Furthermore, I don't see much evidence that the average American cares on a visceral level about what's going on in Mumbai. Maybe if this had happened a few months after 9-11, when everyone was still in a jumped-up state of anxiety, it could have been framed as part of an expected series of ongoing attacks. But right now, I suspect the average Yank will just file it away under the category "bad things happening in far away places".
I suppose that, if Obama ever does decide to make more extensive incursions into Pakistan, this atrocity could be one among several items used to justify such a policy. But it would not be a pivotal factor in winning over public opinion. |

34% of giraffes were molested as children.
99% of jizz stains did not come from POTUS.
An infinite number of monkeys on an infinite number of typewriters will one day reproduce the complete works of Shakespeare.
I pull 69% of my statistics out of my ass at breakfast. |

I don't know why people doubt that this will happen. If Al Qaeda got their hands on a nuke what the hell else would they do with it? When you look at the amount out there, and the number of crazies out there, to assume that the two will never, ever come together is pretty silly. I wouldn't want to put a timeframe on it, but it will happen.
But you're still a lot more likely to die of many other things. It's not worth getting worked up over frankly. |

Well, they came from Pakistan, home of the ISI whose former director, Gen. Gul Hamid, wired $100,000 to Mohammad Atta in August 2001. I'm just waiting for confirmation of the Mumbai guys links to ISI, which has always been effectively under CIA control/influence. |
