Is this safe? I have the windows XP cd and the reason I want to convert is because:
1. Vista is not that good.
2. I bought the laptop in South Korea and despite the seller changing the system to English many things are still in Korean.

So if I did install XP would I risk anything (because I bought a 20,000 version in Yongsan if you know what I mean)
Could I go back to XP if something screws up?

any XP you bought in Yongsan is probably as safe as you can find. But if you reinstall XP, you're going to have to (probably) manually find most of the drivers for your computer. If it's a newish laptop, the manufacturer's website should have most of those for you. If not, it can be a pain in the ass.

He's right. Most companies (I think all except Dell actually) are Vista-exclusive now, and you might have some trouble finding drivers for it.

Google the model of your laptop and "XP drivers" and see what comes up. I had this experience back in Canada when I was 'upgrading' a computer to XP. Personally I'm a Mac user, but I do like Vista, if you've got the horsepower.

I hate Vista.

Vista adds to many dialogue boxes. It's bloated with unneccessary redundant security features. It's a memory hog and it's slower than XP.

Vista is horrible and most people hate it.

Vista is all about bloatware, but it's more advanced. It's kinda slow, even on a dual core 2.2 gigahertz CPU with 2 gigabyte RAM kind of machine. I think a 4 gigahertz dual core with 4 gigabyte RAM would work wonders at running vista.

I just wish they'd fix all the glitches that cause application hang or freeze ups and slow downs that are so common on computers. Often, things go wrong internally and you have to retry for them to work. It's just such a complex issue, but the fact that someone could build it and get it to work is quite a marvel.
