I work at a Christian college where most students are atheists.

Why does the poll have only YES or NO options? How about NOT SURE?
And what God do you mean?

That said, I am among the two percent here on Dave's that believes in God (Protestant interpretation).

I believed in God as a young child, became agnostic as a teenager, a pantheist as a university student (after studying Spinoza), and have now become a monist, i.e., an atheist.

As I learned to think, to employ the critical systems of epistemology, to distinguish between kinds of proposition and between kinds of sentence, and to recognize different kinds of literary device, it became more an more clear that the proposition of a creator is untenable in any terms but those of tradition, social structure and emotion. No other ground have I found anywhere near sufficient for maintaining even the most mundane proposition, let alone this one of such tremendous consequence. The ontological reality is indefensible.

No, I do not believe that there exists a creator. Moreover, the proposition of a creator, once a belief, is dangerous at both the individual level and the sociological level.

Have enough respect for your mind, for your dignity, to seriously examine both sides of the proposition, and follow Reason as She would guide you to wisdom.

It is not easy to cast out demons, superstitions; but it must be done. Wisdom loves only a warrior.
