My Mac G4 died last summer. I'm going home in February, so what do I do with it? Should I take it home to get it recycled? The guy at the Yongsan Apple Service Centre did not seem to know about it, he told me to put it in the garbage.

As for my iTunes, is there any way I can recover my music? Or is it gone forever?

Thanks!

well, i don't know much about computers as you can probably tell.

the battery died, the power cable broke, and the repairman at the Apple Service told me something else was broken inside, and it won't turn on anymore.

How do I get the hard drive? I open it up and take out a piece?

Yes, a laptop!

Well even if I get it fixed in Canada it would cost too much- I'd prefer getting a new one. It's the older G4 from 2005, and I'd like to upgrade. I'll definitely have someone get the hard drive out, though. Thanks for letting me know.

This might be too advanced for you, if you think your uncomfortable with computers; but on the other hand, it's not like you care about breaking it.

Once you get the hard drive you, you can get an external case. 2.5 sata I think...

And then you can just use it as an external hard drive until the day it crashes, which might be soon anyways, so I would back up any important data on another hd.

Funny they would say this as they are fixable.
I have fixed many G4s before so....
and have lots of knowledge of apples PPC - Intel core/Core 2s
I could take a look at it.
What do you mean by dead... do you get an error message or it won't stat up?
Is it a mirrored G4.. because if it is it could be a PSU problem.
let me know.

Thank you.

I will give you my contact #

Actually they said it was fixable but it would cost 500$ for all the pieces. I don't know why it's dead, but there's something wrong inside- it won't turn on anymore.

I decided to get rid of it, I want an upgrade anyways. Someone knowledgeable is taking the hard drive out for me now, so I'll get to keep my music.
