We have been getting the advice from Immigration that the post Dec 15th 2007 rule of "once you are in the system, you do not have to re submit any documents to immigration again" rule has been thrown out.
On Thursday Dec 4th, we were told twice by Immigration that all teachers changing schools must still submit all docs for a new job and no simple transfer would be possible.
One of my teachers was told the same.
Initially, we were told that only a letter of release was needed.
Now, I know Immigration staff are idiots, so I was wondering if anyone else had been given conflicting advice on this "once you're in the system" rule. |

I dont know the specific answer to your question, but I do know that all the immigration agencies in thier separate locations dont seem to be on "the same page" when it comes to rules and procedures... Also, I do believe the individual agencies have alot of autonomy and therefore things are politically-driven at a local level... even bribes and whatnot are a factor... true for most of east asia, not just korea. |

This is true, they all have different rules and guidelines as screwy as it sounds. Busan immigration is a fiasco. Pohang was easy as pie! I was in ad out in 25 minutes with my transfered visa.
Id give them a call, they seemed to be very with it. But I could be wrong. |

I don't remember hearing that rule. I remember they said that you only had to do the interview in your home country once, but don't remember anything similar about paperwork. |

I called immigration (1345) TWICE to ask if I would need a new CBC (or CRC if you prefer) to change jobs. Both times the answer was "No, if you've already submitted it." I KNEW I was right to start the process for the new one! |

That was not a rule ever. It was part of a notice by a manager that can still be found on the immigration website. System? Do you really think there is anything as organized as a "system" here? As far as I know it's a bunch of different offices that occasionally communicate. |

Never. I've always had to resubmit documents.
The thing about Asia is that not giving an answer is not acceptable so people will tell you anything not to look stupid. Whereas in the West giving someone the wrong answer is rude. Too bad Koreans don't know the first thing about a foreign culture -- any foreign culture. Everything they know is extremely superficial. |

But it was stated by Immi--last year during all the brouhaha, that people will only have to submit CBC once, and it will then be in Immi's computer's forever.
I actually called it...I knew Immi would not keep track of squat. |
