OKOKOK, I was in EMart yesterday and they had beef brisket, marlbed with lots of bits of fat, just right for corned beef, and it was 1,880 won per 100 grams. That's about 8,500 won per pound. By comparison, the canned corned beef looks good because it is cooked, with lots of water removed, so it is very dense.
But it is from Brazil. This stuff costs $1.49, sometimes $1 back home for a can. There is no US dollar excuse because a clever Korean importer could get it directly from Brazil and make a fortune. Except, it isn't 1/3 to 1/4 lard, and Koreans seem to think animal fat is more valuable than protein.
Plus they would actually have to do something with it, other than slicing it and eating it.
But Koreans could probably be getting Brazilian corned beef cheaper than Spam, which was never intended to be anything more than a portable source of dirt cheap calories. It is garbage food. |

^That stuff from Emart, it's not that really pink stuff is it? I found this really nasty stuff about 6-months ago that was a bright pinkish colour and tasty awful. |

Ummm, I think you are confused. My fault. If you read the earlier posts, I was talking about making corned beef from beef. The recipe calls for using brisket. |
