Of course i will get bashed for this ( i get bashed for everything I say) but you think this situation is bull crap?
1) why the hell is your wife mocking a total stranger when she has no idea how the guy might react?
I think you said, she was in the wrong, and CLEARLY the guy who hit her was in the wrong, but i mean come on, she insults a huge, drunk total stranger. I am guessing she was drunk(ish) too?
2) Your wife insults Gyopo, Gyopo overreacts and hits your wife, you overreact and detach body parts. You have to go to court. You think this is unfair? ( regardless of pay off or not) I am not aure what I am missing here.
I am NOT saying that I would not have the same reaction as you if I was in your situation, I would have likley gone off on the guy too, but i would have been equally choked with my wife.
I know I dont have the total story here, and I ever will have all the details, but I honestly don't see how some of you guys are surprised or think its unfair this guy is off to court. |
OP quote:
"For all intents and purposes, the guy was an American (the reason he was mad at my wife and the girls she was with was because one of them commented on his 'korean language skills')-wrongfully so."
Did he outright say that his wife was the one that insulted the guy? |

I'm sensitive enough to the plight of the gyopo that I told the girls to leave, while trying to calm him down. I know gyopos have problems here.
So, I tried to calm him down, but he was a keg of dynomite that night. I guess being in korea and being a Korean American with a Korean *beep* and not an American *beep*, AND, not speaking Korean really messed with him.
Anyway, he knew better. He messed up. He would NEVER pull that back home. (He's from Chicago BTW, if you know a gyopo with a reattached ear lobe and a nice left cheek scar). |
This is also a little confusing..
The girls insulted him and he came over.
You told the girls to leave.
You tried to calm him down
and THEN he 'hit' your wife and you went to town on him?
Presumably you didnt try to calm him down after kicking his ass?
So can you give us more details? Did your wife leave when you told the girls to go away? How did he bypass you and manage to 'hit' your wife? Was she arguing with him? Or did he charge past you and run after her or something? What did you say to him to try and calm him down?
Seems like theres much more to this. |

Are you being sarcastic with that remark? Cuz this "James Lee" sounds like he may be one of those dreaded Gyopos and/or English Adoptees you warn about. Be careful dealing with him in the future. Who knows when he will snap? |

It sounds like John better get his story straight before the hearing
For those of you who are new to Korea, the way the law works is, if there is a fight, the police don't care who is right or wrong -- only who got hurt. The thing to remember is:
You hurt someone, you pay.
It's called blood money. This is the system unless there is a foreigner involved, in which case it is the foreigners fault no matter what.
The lesson is, For Chrissake, BACK DOWN is you get in a dispute with a drunk asshole, even if he's jealous of your girlfriend. It makes absolutely no sense to jeopardize your visa, your livelihood, your bank account, your freedom, your sanity, over a drunk asshole whom you have a world of social advantages over.

If that lesson was directed towards me, then you are preaching to the choir (ie...been there, done that).
I was responding to Hamlet saying that the OP's wife was the one that instigated that situation. |

So would the OP kindly clarify what he means by 'hit'? A massive, full force slap to the face that knocked her down senseless? A slap across the arm? A slap to the ass?
And when you describe the torn earlobe and facial scar - was this preexisting or something you did?
Depending on the above circumstances you may have been well within or rights or showing signs of being a violent sociopath. |
