Hey,
I've just been offered a job at the WNW School in Mokdong, just wondered if anyone had any info about it (reputation etc!)?
Or just about the area in general would be great. |

Pretty sure it's a brand new school. Just saw the signs up this past month.
Yea, good area for sure. Only problem i could see (other than the usual hogwan stuff) is where are they going to house you?
Mok-dong's closest "villa" neighborhood is a good 15-20 minutes walking distance from your school. And that may be perfectly ok for you. Maybe they'll put you close by in an officetel. Just be sure to check out the housing and distance.
Another plus is you are just a skip away from Hongdae/Sinchon. Sorry I can't tell you anything about the school itself. |

New schools are supposed to have more disadvantages than advantages from what i've heard.
In other words, the school might have a hard time getting new students and thus the longevity of the school could be at risk. Of course, you might have fewer classes for the first few weeks/months which could be advantageous. I've never worked for a new school, so i'm only passing on what i've heard. |

I'd say that you have received solid advice thus far from the other posters because I've worked for 4 schools during the time I've lived in the Republic.
Mok-Dong, Yangcheon-Gu is a swell area because a lot of the pupils you'd meet are serious -as far as "serious" goes- about learning the King's English or North American-style English. Also, a lot of groovy expatriates lived there when I lived there... So, there you go!
Really, it's a good place, and an oldtimer like me would kill for the good students they seem to have in droves. Go for it!

Mike, before you go, eh, mental on me, just what is the name of the institute-uh? After all, Donnie Boy here wouldn't want to contribute ammo to you for your anger prob (no offense, eh).
Cordially,
Moi
P.S.: Seriously, what's the name of the academy? I know a few of 'em out there. |

Its called WNW English School, think its part of a franchise and not that new because I'll be replacing someone who did their full contract. |

just as a matter of interest 'Mikie.goes.mental'...did you contact the teacher who is leaving to get his/her opinion? What were the job conditions offered to you (how much pay, vacation, type of housing)? |

pay is 2.2 with 10 days vacation and public holidays. Accomodation is single and although you can walk its a 5 minute bus journey from the school all the rest is pretty standard regards airfare etc.
Haven't made contact with the teacher thats leaving yet but the agency are getting me the details tomorrow |

2.2 is pretty standard. But if your coming here for Money to pay of debt... id be looking into Taiwan, Japan even Europe if you have a Celta. Korea is the money hub it once was. |
