So there is no American ground beef? Ugh. Also, the prices of the beef here do not compare to the US beef distributer place in Noryangjin near the fish market.
I would advice people in Seoul to continue hitting up the place near the fish market. Also, the prices of the other beef has come down competively as well. In fact, in a couple of cuts Korea or Aussie beef was actually cheaper. Just in two mind you.
There are no steaks like back home though. Good luck getting a porterhouse or t-bone out of the mess.
Now if only we can start importing rice then this country will be better off for it. F* the rice and cow businessmen. |

You can go to any butcher selling US beef (there probably are quite a few by now, if Emart and Lottemart are carrying it) and ask them to grind it up for you. They might even do it for you at Emart. Koreans don't use ground beef much for cooking, ergo they don't sell it ground in the store.
Are you sure the cuts of Korean and Aussie beef that were cheaper than US ones were the same cut? I kind of doubt that. |

| I was in Emart last night with my order of unusually thing steaks and as I was going through the check-out a could of ajumas started gossiping about my beef choice. Wonder if they were among the people who believed that even Americans don't eat US beef. |

Last spring they were leading the "Death to America" rallies- now, they stand in line for that yummy American beef. |

| It's the silent majority that are doing the buying. The yahoos that were protesting American beef were left wingnuts and aren't the majority. |

| The woman behind the meat counter at Emart asked the butcher in the back to cut a couple of thick steaks for me, at my request of course. They had no problems cutting me 2, nice thick steaks. Each steak weighed about 430-460g and cost about W6000. |

| Be careful at Lotte Mart at Seoul Station. They have a big section dedicated to US beef and have put packs of overpriced Korean beef in there. Ignorance or manipulative, either way it's incompetence. |

IMHO all those "Silent majority"s are just a guilty as the "Wingnuts" because of their silence. In the immortal words of JFK: You are either part of the solution or part of the problem.
Those who stay silent are just as much a part of the problem as those left-wing, frothing-at-the-mouth nutcases. |
