I'm trying to get out of sitting at my desk all winter break and someone suggested telling my principal I really want to see Korea in the winter and he may give me time off. My principal is pretty accommodating and this could work, but where should I go?

I've already been to Seoraksan and it takes 7 hours to get there from Busan so I think I'd like to try some place new. The places I'm interested in seeing are the islands of the southwest and Jeju but wouldn't those be more worthwhile in the spring or summer? Also, I don't know if there's anything special about Seoul in the winter.. ?

Soooo... where should I go?

I have plenty of suggestions for the south coast and islands from March thru October.

But in winter...

Instead I recommend you go skiing or sledding at Muju Resort in Jeollabukdo, to the national museums of science and contemporary art in Daejeon, to Bulguksa temple after a snowstorm in Gyeongju, or hike to Hwaeom Temple in Jiri national park for spectacular snowy vistas.

I am going to Thailand. That's my "vacation." I am looking to take off the random Monday or Friday to make my weekends longer. I hear that schools, like mine, that insist that you come in and sit in your chair all through the break will sometimes let you off for a day or two for "cultural trips." Hey I want some Korean culture... or I at least want to not be forced to sit in my cold office all day everyday.
