I used to take some over the counter medication made by Kirkland (Costco), but Costco doesn't sell it here, and I'm having trouble getting someone to send it from the states. What do people here use (aside from the obvious jokes)? I haven't slept well for two weeks now and really need to find something safe and reliable.

I tried Aron for the first time a few days ago. I slept pretty well.

Go to a pharmacy and ask for it -it's 아론 in Hangul.

I got 10 pills for 1,000 won. Laughing

Go to the yak guk and say you can't sleep. He'll hand you some doxylamine (I'm pretty sure that's what it is anyway) for about 2000 won.

Say this: Ajeossi, jal mot jayo. Yak isseoyo? (Yo, uncle-type dude, I can't sleep! Got any pills?)

Then he will spout off a bunch of Korean that you probably won't understand, but he'll get ye yer drugs.

Also: Mae il mae il neomu jeol ryeo yo. Mae bam e jal an jayo. (I'm tired every day. Every night I sleep poorly).

You could also say 'dang sin neo mu gwi eo wa' but only if he is cute. And around the same age as you.

I got a 20 pack of Diphenhydramine (like Nytol) yesterday for 4500. I think the brand name was sleepal (스리펄?). Knocked me right out.

Why not solve the problem by making some major changes in your life or in your diet.

Why confuse the problem while poisoning your body (liver) with drugs.

The more medication you take the more your liver makes it difficult for you to sleep.

Try putting your hands on your head and breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth pretending you are breathing into your hands.

Learn how to calm your mind with meditation or more exercise.

How much coke or coffee gets into your system?

Is there something in your life you are not dealing with?

Don't they have melatonin here?
Get someone to mail you a large bottle of that from home.
The stuff the people above are talking about worked for me also.
I just felt groggy the next day from those.

There is no way he could mess that up..

Why not let people make their own decisions? you have no idea what the cause of his sleeplessness may be and what is required to deal with it.

You can buy melatonin in the illegal import markets, as the supplement is technically illegal in Korea. You can also try Valerian root to help go to sleep.

Chamomile tea also has a calming effect and is good for you.

Thank you. That's what I picked up at the Yak today. It was the only thing I wrote in Hangul so they gave me that. They probably had other stuff, but I was on a break from work and gave up trying to ask them if they had anything better. So I'll try that tonight.

I didn't realize it was illegal in Korea.

I've bought Melatonin in the black markets, well worth it. Best 'sleep aide' there is, as it isn't 'druggish'.

That may be true, but they haven't proven much of anything about melatonin in studies as far as I know. I have a bunch of that stuff and it hit or miss as far as working for me. Sometimes it makes me drowsy and then I wake up like 2 hours later and can't sleep for shit. Other times it knocks me out for 10 hours. I'm not the best sleeper though.

Go to the doctor and say that you've been having a lot of stress at work and it's affecting your job and your sleep, and that you have a lot of anxiety. Maybe add that there's family shit going on back home too.

The doctor will then give you something that will make you sleep. You may have to take two of whatever it is you get (valium, xanax, etc)

If you want ambien, ask for stilnox. Same thing. Much cheaper tho.

When you run out, go to a different doctor and do it again. That's what the Koreans do. Be warned tho: it's the fast track to addiction. Korea is like one big legalized drug market.

I was taught this by my anti-drug cop friend who sometimes needs some pills to get to sleep.

This is a nation of drug-peddling doctors that will give you anything you ask for by name (most of the time), provided it is legal to do so. The Koreans really have it figured out. THAT'S how you deal drugs. Government gets tax, little social stigma, medical coverage + lots of jobs and commercial revenue.

Make sure that your "hospital" is called a [ney-gua]: internal medecine clinic.

Whatever you do, don't smoke pot.
