Take a look at this:

http://www.gbdriver.co.uk/acatalog/zoombak-gps-tracking-locator-pet-car-family.html

I understand that this is meant for the safety of pets, car, and family, but when did we sacrifice privacy for safety? The commercials say that you will receive a text message when a car travels outside the safety zones (preset destinations). And the commercial indirectly suggests using it in the cars of teenagers. Parents may feel differently, but being a young adult, I feel that this is more of an invasion of privacy then an attempt at keeping children safe. Children will find a way to have fun. I think this only pushes children to rebel further from their parents.

What happened to parents trusting their children?

These products sell more on the basis of fear than trust.

Women wore chastity belts at one time. Don't sweat the small stuff.

If I had that a few months ago when my motorcycle was stolen, we'd have one (possibly more) dead thief on our hands... Twisted Evil

They're just a little ahead of the game. In the Netherlands, those will become mandatory from 2011 so the government can charge road tax on a per-kilometre basis. The UK is considering a similar scheme, though they are leaning towards tracking people rather than just cars.

I've heard something about that happening in the US too. But that's different than parents being able to pinpoint exactly where their children are at any given time. We all know our parents used to love to 'park' as they called it, now they're trying to deny teenagers the same fun

True, we did call it 'park', what's it called these days?

Yet it goes along nicely with 'abstinence only' sex-ed. Watch out for the video cams too, believe me they REALLY don't want to see that. Or find the used rubbers laying around. Twisted Evil
