How Seoul can attract and deal with 12million more tourists by 2012.

Some ideas:

continue with the lame ass ads on CNN (seems to be the rage now with Taiwan and Indonesia launching *beep* recently)

Encourage more people to become taxi drivers (especially around Jongno as these guys are champions)

Keep the streets clean like Japan. Do whatever the Japanese people do at the early age to make people obsessed with keep the streets clean. Make some of the subway stations more interesting.

Does smog stain? because I see black on old buildings and bridges, that should be cleaned up too.

Korea doesn't have old shit. The culture may be as ancient and inward looking as any in the world, but whitey like old shit (assuming they want whitey coming). Old buildings, ruins, artifacts, etc.

Not B-boys. Stop with the B-boy ads. I'm not going to any country to watch B-boys.

Defeat Kim Jong Il and millions of "tourists" will flood into Seoul.

- Educate Koreans to be more open toward foreigners and other cultures and stop asserting that Korean culture is the center of the universe

- Lower the price of taxis and make them available to foreigners anytime of the day and make it finable when taxi drivers pass up foreigners waiting at night for a taxi.

1. HYGENE. cover sewers, stop throwing used huggee into sacks and leaving them outside the bathrooms.

2. Get some manners, dont chew with mouth open, or spit, etc...etc...
don't stare at people, ask how much they make, or why they are single.

3. Get some ATTRACTIONS. and manage them. Who wants to go to a beach with a billion trillion people so close they can smell each others kimchi breath.

4. It is hopeless. Paris, Rome, London, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Thailand, etc..etc..

they will always be the hot spots.

1. Tell the world that Hangeul is the greatest written language in the world.

2. Tell the world that Koreans have the highest IQs.

3. Tell the world that kimchi is a wonder food that staves off just about everything.

4. Tell the world about Park Tae-hwan and Park Ji-seong.

5. Reopen a stream downtown. Be sure to embank the stream with plenty of concrete.

6. Keep voting Rain as the most influential person in the world.

7. Take out huge ads in the papers informing the world about Dokdo.

If these actions fail to attracts foreigners, the fault rests squarely on their shoulders.

To be realistic, I've met tourists from other non-Asian countries....they were having a blast...if I left my first week, I'd consider coming here the best vacation I've ever had.

I don't think Seoul is worth the expensive plane ticket here...if fare was comparatively cheap(subsidized) they could market themselves as the cheap japan. Plenty of people would like to visit an asian country like Japan, but the cost prohibitive nature and plane tickets are the main deterents.

on the other hand, Seoul is a place where some jetsetters traveling around asia stop by...my friend was telling where in Seoul they hang out.....he said they had attractive foreign women there Smile :0

I read somewhere that Japan was considered the "Switzerland" of Asia while Korea was considered the "Mexico".......
