I may enroll in an online TESOL certification program, soon.

Last time I checked, 100 hrs. is all that EPIK required for the raise in salary.

Has it changed? What are the requirements, now?

Someone I work with in Changwon told me it's 120 hrs. coursework.

For the bump you only need the 100 hour TESOL cert.

I believe it has to be over 100 hours.

They DO recognize the 100 hour certs.

The only difference is the 20 hour classroom practicum and that is not required by EPIK/GEPIK/ETIS/NIIED.

I recently completed a 100 hr online TESOL course with ITTT. It is recognized by GEPIK for the pay increase.

I will get mine in my next contract, which should start in June 09.

Got mine at teflonline. It was challenging and took me like a month to complete, but not bad for a few hundred bucks.

i'm also considering it. i'm only here till end of august, but if i do a cheap one it would still be a little bit extra. every bit helps right? you get the bump in the next month or pay period after you complete it right? and hey do these things help in finding a job back home at all? making you look slightly more qualified to teach?

Kilboy6,

What was your $80 course like?

Sounds like a fine deal. EPIK acknowledged it?

I`m sure someone else on here took that course in Korea (online). Might be worth sending an email to them to ask? $80 seems a bargain (too good to be true?)

Would Epik in Busan honor a pay upgrade if you do complete a 100 hour Tesol Certificate during your contract? I would really like to know the answer to that question.

I haven't actually done it yet...moving to Korea in September and starting it now...seems easy enough apart from a 2000 word essay requirement which won't be too much fun.

According to their site (and according to a poster here on Dave's who alerted me to it) this course is accepted for the pay rise in Korea.

No idea about actually doing it in Korea though...although I don't see why it's any business of theirs what part of the world you're in when you do an online course!
