The debate on this thread has already been framed as an "either-or" proposition.

I think that it's clear from the context what the intended meaning of "tomato's" statement was, and these grammatical nitpickings are irrelevant to the argument that I made.

Of course to save his side some further intellectual embarassment, "tomato" will back-up "mindmetoo's" devious interpretation.

The so-called pro-evolutionist side is as shameless as they come (plus they're ugly Laughing )

This, from the Elvis singing swami...

who, apparently, has run out of "arguments" since he has now degenerated into slander.

Where's your karma now?

There's no karma incurred for calling a spade a spade (or responding to insults with better quality insults that at least have some humor value... Cool )

And "slander" is hardly applicable - of course, it's the wrong term anyway. Rolling Eyes

"the_beaver" made reference to knowing one's audience. It's pretty clear that in his case he's only familiar with captive audiences. Razz

Yes, your razor sharp wit is an inspiration to us all.

You calling pro-evolutionists "ugly" and "shameless", that's not slander...

I guess it's the only way you can continue to support your "argument."

Surprisingly, evolutionists outnumber creationists despite the overwhelming large number of god believers.

All humans will die without ever really experiencing their body's full potential! They will never really feel and experience the powers of the brain!

We are limited! Because we doubt!
Yoga and meditation works! Its a scientific fact! To be the best at yoga and meditation you must believe in God...

Non believers will never experience there true capabilities of their own mind body and soul!

It is not a scientific fact, do you have any proof to back this up? No? Oh too bad....belief does not equal crap...actually let me rephase that...belief is crap

Non believers will never experience there true capabilities of their own mind body and soul!

Take another hit off the bong. You are talking about 2 things that only exist in the minds of believers....not fact....not truth....just more nonsense from idiots who crave to believe!

At least I respect God enough to capitalize the first letter of the word used to denote the one Supreme Controller of all matter and spirit.

Since the Supreme Person is the unlimited source of all beauty, those who would like to limit Him - or cut off His connection to the material creation - are limiting their own beauty.

And total abscence of beauty is sheer ugliness.

Those who are most envious of God - wanting to lord it over nature themselves without acknowledging Him as real owner of everything - are inwardly the most ugly (though they may be highly acclaimed and regarded as "beautiful people" by materialists)

Regarding the post just made by "toowise" in which he dismisses and bashes all spirituality as worthless "belief", I think the distinction needs to be made between belief, faith, and knowledge.

Beliefs deal with relative truths and are products of our mind only.

Faith is an assumption about Absolute Truth that eternally underlies all reality - whether we believe it or not. Faith makes the choice between trust and doubt in something sublime based on the joining of mind and heart.

Knowing is based on our experience and personal realization - not speculation.

The argument against faith based on scientific rationality is valid only withing the limited parameters of science and does not apply to Absolute Truth.

Here's a nice essay on this topic...

To succeed, we must first believe that we can.

Can you scientifically prove to me that you love your mother?

Meditation brings wisdom; lack of mediation leaves ignorance!

You will never know! So there is no point discussing it with you...

NOT truth? Not FACT?
To who?? Ohhh to you!
Rolling Eyes

You think millions of people all over the world who practice tantra yoga or other such practices dont receive any benefits??? haHHAHAHA

OK HERO! Rolling Eyes

I never said I was trained or I believe purely in the divine!
I just said, to reach the ultimate in enlightenment through meditation one should believe in the divine! Then you could reach your full bodies potential! Like I said humans die without experiencing it...
You need to study about yoga and meditation to understand it...
But frankly bob its useless to you... As you doubt too much and you will never accept it, so you will just be wasting your time so therefore you will never experience anything...

Maybe not, but your straw man constructions are bullshit.
Since love can be easily explained as an evolutionary trait, especially among the Mammal Class, we don't need all this lofty religious rhetoric.

Wow we have a nihilist in the thread!!

Then you must have seen a card reading "This is to certify that Toowise is a member of the Nihilist Party."

From this premise, you arrive at the conclusion that religious belief is tantamount to fact?
I'm afraid you lost me.
Could you please go through that line of reasoning slowly, and step by step?

We have biofeedback devices, and we know about secretion of hormones.

How have the secrets of fhe stars been discovered?
By science or by religion?

I grant you that point.
Perhaps religious skeptics should give meditation a fair trial.

Let me see if I understand you correctly:
You don't necessarily believe that God exists, but you thnk there are benefits in believing that God exists. Is that right?
I want to make sure I understand you correctly, because I am careful not to misquote other people--unlike some people I know.

From the mere fact that he disagrees with you, you can judge his character and read his fortune?

You're telling who how it is? Who has made a wall for themselves? By claiming agnosticism, you're just as much a non-believer as I am. I've never said there is nothing that would change my mind. You're wasting time sitting on the fence on the issue, at least I've made my (non-indelible) choice.
