My school has royally screwed me over. They broke my contract by sacking me without giving me warning. They charged me 400 thousand won for living in an apartment without utilities.
I also have reason to belive that they stole my visa documents that I now have no money to pay for any more.
I am really stuck, can any one give me any help or advice? |

Wait I'm confused, what visa documents? Did they steal your passport?? There shouldn't be any other documents...the visa is just a sticker that goes in your passport.
And what exactly are they charging you for? What does "living in an apartment without utilities" mean? How do you even do that?
And if they fire you without notice, I think you have some kind of legal options for that. I think they are required to give you 30 days notice, but I could be wrong.
Regardless, much more information is needed here. |

Most people will help you and feel sorry for you but you first got to do one thing - DETAILS. Where are you? How long into the contract? What kind of school - public or private? What documents for the visa are you talking about? What is this info abut the rent? How long do you have in your place your a staying left? Are they giving you notice or kicking you straight out the door. DETAILS
I am no grammar Nazi but most people who teach English should be able to clearly express themselves. I am guessing you did a lousy job writing it down because you are panicked. So calm down, take a deep breath and tell us your troubles again.

How often do some posters here have to hear of yet another outrage before they think twice--make that thrice--about working for a hagwon?
Really well run and well paid hagwons are the exception to the rule.
If I were you I'd view this as a golden opportunity to get out of Korea and seek honest employment elsewhere. Of course, I also wish you rots of ruck in your grievance efforts. |

My recruiter just told me that my current temporary position doesn't want me back. On Christmas Eve. What a bunch of B***ards. Basically my Co-teacher had a major inferiority complex. And the kids were saracstic little f*ck wits.
While I spent 20 minutes of the class teaching, she did a puzzle with them at the end and then had a fight with me over who was the teacher and who was the assistant.
It's kind of weird that they fired me as apart from a few weird experiences, I thought I had a good relationship with them. What really gets me, is that the kids and teachers will still look up to you or think about you, even though they did such a shitty thing. For example if one of the girls buys something or wears something in my style. They fired her on Christmas eve, but I looked up to her anyway. Well done! |

Have? You have?
Has the use of 'have' escaped an entire continent? |

Er, when people ask for details they usually mean coherent ones.
Perhaps liquor has been taken? Fair enough.
I don't really understand but I hope everything works out for you, especially at this time of year. |

Merry Christmas. It's too bad you are having a problem at your job of a lifetime. I mean, really...is there that much unemployment in Nova? Who cares about a Koren hogwon job, anyway? |

Which one did you want to be? When I had this fight with my coteacher, we both thought we were the assistant. |

Focus on getting to a stable point in your life and then file with the Ministry of Labour. Get your hogwon back. No doubts about it. If you do nothing, they will continue doing this to other teachers.
If you file with Labor, be sure to mention how the hogwon never informed you of the labor law nor provided you with a copy. Yes, you may not get much out of it, but each violation of the Labor Law will cost you hogwon 5 million Won, which will make them think twice before doing it again. |
