After several years of meaning to I finally got round to seeing Nanta last night and I recommend it. I though it was going to be all just drumming but it was interspersed with quite a few other skits and performances.
The show keeps up a good pace, the characters were likable and some of the drumming was incredible. As long as you don't mind a bit of corny slapstick humor and audience participation you'll enjoy it. My only objection was that they could have let the actual drumming go on longer as it was so good to listen to.
The price is 50,000 won for the side seats from which you can see the stage fine (the centre seats are 60,000 won). Also if you pick up the Real Groove magazine there's an ad in it that will get you a 20% discount.

Second that!
Another fine piece that doesn't require Korean language knowledge is playing in Hongdae, something along the line "Ballerina meets B-Boy". Minimal backstory but some really good acrobatics. VERY uncomfortable seating but the show goes only 90 minutes and well worth it. I got invited but prices in the same range as Nanta I believe. |
