Anyone know a quiet hotel/guest house in Pattaya. I don't want to be over a bar - or in a noisy area. I'll be living there for at least a month.
Walking distance of 30 mins to beach is OK - not in Jontmein though.
Sadly, I can't stay at my usual hotel in Soi Bukhaou anymore (because, last vacation, the Thai hotel owner 'fixed' my room safe - and you guessed it - all my cash was stolen. (Lots of smiling police but no cash returned.)
So I'm looking for a very quiet place - with good security - and run by Europeans/Falangs etc. Definitely not noisy - over a bar - and within daily walking distance of Beach Road.
Any help appreciated. |

Le Cafe Royale?
Given the latest antics, you won't have problem finding a room, occupancy rates are currently supposedly below 50%. |

| Nice place- men with 50 pound bellies and women with one foot in the grave. There must be another place to holiday unless you are sick in da head. |

| It would be very helpful if you would post your budget for such a stay. I know many places, but I cannot help you without knowing the type of place you are looking for. |

Tis the season of goodwill. So I'm a little surprised at your reply. Sure, Pattaya is Sin City - but it also has another side. I've lived there - on and off - for a few years now. I've met a lot of nice Thais - avoided the Western sex tourists (but met some nice Westerners, too)- and, while dodging marriage proposals, I've spent many happy months fishing, swimming, island hopping, sunbathing, running, building karma - and eating food from all over the world. I lived there for 4 months this year - and never went into a bar or nightclub. There can be much more to Pattaya than that.
Perhaps one has to have lived in Korea for many years to appreciate the lively and friendly atmosphere of Pattaya. Sure, there's sleazy nightlife - but if you avoid the traps (and boy, there are many traps until your legs get sunburned), Pattaya is a very exciting and interesting place to live. I'm planning on retiring there. |

Not too sure of current high season prices.
My usual hotel charged 900 bht per day (very expensive) or 8,000 or 9,000 bht a month - for a small standard air con room. A really nice place - quiet, clean and 'friendly' service.
But, I guess I stayed there too long - and, eventually, got stalked. So it's time for me to find a new home away from home.
Any info appreciated. But it has to be a quiet place. |

I'm sure there are - and I'll probably look at them, too. But Pattaya is a truely international city. I've spent years travelling and working abroad in some of the worlds' most dangerous and beautiful places - and now they just bore me. Nowadays, I need more 'social and intellectual' stimulation than 'beautiful scenery'.
So I like Pattaya because it has a many English-speaking visitors and a large ex-pat community with excellent ex-pat information/ services/ support etc - and, when I'm occassionally hanging out for a taste of home, a lot of food from all over Europe. And, of course, all the usual nonsense that Thailand is famous for.
Merry Christmas All. |

| I cant remember the name offhand but there is a very nice hotel right beside Big C mall. 2 pools, private bungalos, a bit of a long walk to walking street but about 6 minutes from the beach. Lots of taxis circling the road in that area so transportation isnt a problem. Clean, great staff and nice location. Its about a block north of alot of the bars but very quiet at night. |
