|
|
Hi all,
I will be starting a new job at a university next March. I've already talked to my current employer and he has 100% agreed to give me a letter of release. I started my present position at the end of last August.
Anyway...what exactly do I have to do? Do I have to get a new crb check/health check (I submitted the old ones back in August)? Can I transfer the visa to the university? Will I have to do a visa run and get a new visa?
Thanks all. |

We are switching to a university job in March as well and they told us that we will not need a new criminal check, nor a new health check, since we already went through it once for our last visa.
But...we are completing our current contract which finishes at the end of February, so I can't guarantee that the situation would be the same if you are leaving your current contract early.
There is also no guarantee that what we were told by our uni is correct, although they seem to really be on the ball and told us that they called immigration to check out the situation. |

I'm in the process if transferring my visa right now and I had to get all of my documents again--
CBC
Official Transcript
Health Check
LOR
I started my second contract at a public school back in May and am leaving the end of December for a hagwon job.
If I were you I'd go ahead and get those documents just in case immigration decides to be even a little consistent. |

Thanks for the heads up all.
I've just applied for a new CBC check....so I should have it at the latest by the end of January. I've already received the letter of release (in English) from my boss.....just need to get it translated into Korean and for her to sign and stamp it again. I've also got several copies of my transcripts. So the only thing left is to get the medical check.
I think, and as others have said, it's best to prepare EVERYTHING just in case immigration give the wrong advice and then things change when it comes to handing in your paperwork for the new visa. If this were to happen and you DIDN'T prepare everything....you'd basically be screwed! |
