|
|
Yeah, so I have been on a water fast (with one bottle of SoBe Life Water on Friday) since I ate dinner on Thursday. My plan is to break my fast tomorrow [Sunday, Dec. 14] after the sun sets.
Any advice on what I should and shouldn't eat tomorrow?
I've bought some plain yoghurt, and a few tangerines/oranges . . . I heard that fruit is good, and yoghurt will help reestablish any organisms that might have quit during my fast (yoghurt worked after I couldn't eat due to salmonella poisoning back in undergrad).
If either of these foods aren't good choices, I can always wait a few days before I eat them.
I'm not really into "health foods" and would prefer breaking my fast with stuff that I can easily get at either a convenience store, grocery store, or Korean restaurant.
I will be out most of the day tomorrow, so if anyone can respond tonight (before 9AM), I'd really appreciate it. |

Korean "jook" is a great fast breaker.
It's like a rice broth, I guess. Sometimes called 'Korean porridge'
It's easy on the tummy. Ask a Korean to point you to a "jook" restaraunt. |

Involuntary fast here...breaking it with Jook. MIL is on her way over to my house to make some for me. No energy, feel terrible. Started yesterday afternoon when I ate hotel buffet and came home feeling terrible. Puked my guts out - projectile vomiting, the works. Diarrhea for the next 24 hours ensued. I don't have enough energy to walk. Been sleeping all day.
This has happened to me before. Jook always helps - fantastic way to start eating again. Some people call it rice porridge. It's great.

sliced Pigs feet with Makoli.
This is what the monks eat when they end their three meditation fasts.
It's also really good in homeopathic healing and alternative medicine. It can bring about a spiritual vision and improve your afterlife Karma. |

I think the rule is, you should divide the fasting time by half for the breaking time. So, the breaking length should be a day and a half for you.
I'd start off with a vegetable broth, first. Boil some bok choi or a chopped carrot, filter out the fiberous material, and sip that for your first meal. Second, boil some good vegetables--more water than vegetable--until they are very soft, and eat that for a meal or two.
Be careful with things like apples. The peels don't digest easy and can casue harm.
Fasting is the easy part. Coming off the fast is the challenge. That's where the discipline comes in.
After going through the vegetable soup stage, then get on to things like jjuk.
Don't take the breaking lightly. It's the most important part. Even though a three day fast isn't very long, take it seriously.
Make a lot of the veggie soup, carry it in a jar with you and sip on it to curb your hunger. Don't spice it up but perhaps with a little sea salt. You don't have the mass in your system to balance spices yet. |

what a coincidence! I'm on a three day water fast right now - just started yesterday - feeling a little dizzy and weak though but i guess it gets better right?
This is my first one, but i heard that your body expels a lot of garbage after day two - true? |

Yeah, your body will have a chance to clean the liver, first. Since it doesn't have to deal with the new toxins ingested by eating, it can focus on the liver. For energy, it'll first go to your fats, then to the weaker and damages tissues. But, that would take a longer fast.
For a short fast, one good indicator is the tongue. If your tongue is still white and full of plaque, you're not really cleaned out yet.
It is good to get the colon emptied completely, too. That way, those toxins won't sit long and re-absorb into the system. You can do this with a salt water flush. Make sure you use sea-salt, though.

I'm thinking about doing the master cleanse soon. . .anyone done this before? I have, once. |

Also, to a former point, I do think that it is a good idea to use yogurt during the breaking time.
You can even make your own yogurt. You need to have a little yogurt to start with. You put that yogurt in a microwave safe container, pour in four or five times that amount of milk (not skim), wrap the container in a towel, place it in the microwave, microwave it until it is just warm, and let it sit for twenty four hours. |

A salad.
How in the world did you go hungry for 3 days? Ouch. That's self discipline. I guess if you ever smoked, it was no problem controlling your 1st quit to be the only quit. |

Wait until you've had some simple, very boiled vegetable soup, before you have a salad. Things like raw carrots can be tough for a stomach that's been shut down for a time.
Very, very easily digestible is the key. |
