Has anyone ever just packed up and ran away 2 months before their contract ends? I seriously don't want to stay at my school for 2 more months...I am tired of being away from my family at Christmas, and I am sick of Korean messed up work culture, and I want to go and be with my Korean fiance. But if I run away, will immigration give me a hard time when I try to come back here with him later???

I am sure if I told my school I don't really want to extend my visa this week, and that I want to leave now, they would get upset....so what should I do? This is my last time working in hagwons anyways, so I don't care anymore.

I don't want to spend Christmas alone here, and the Lunar New Year vacation time sucks this coming year. If I leave, I know I will be giving up about $6000 though...but I don't want to stay. I am fed up with my disorganized school, etc. Also, at the end of this month, I will have finished a whole year. Last year when I re-signed and extended for another year, I agreed to stay an extra two months until the end of February...now I don't want to. Also, my school isn't being quick to get their business paper faxed over to my branch so I can go and extend my expriing visa. I told them I will leave before I will let them keep me here illegally. My old boss last year actually suggested I work illegally...yeah right! Also, my new boss yesterday told me it will take a week for immi to mail my passport back to me...oh no! She has to be wrong. last year, an extension was done in one day. I have always gotten an extension the same day. Liars!

I don't quite understand your situation, but once you finish a 12 month period of work, your severance is due, not when you leave, when 12 months is up. Did you sign anything saying you would stay two more months? He can't make you work illegally. Just say you want to leave at the end of your visa. If he gives you grief, do the following:

1) call immi and say your boss wants you to work illegally.
2) call the labor board and say your boss won't pay you

This is what caught my eye the most. Why is it that so many people just can't live up to their word?

Ideally, you should keep your word. But to take my co-teacher as an example, when they try to make your life intolerable, it is natural to consider your options.

I am all for living up to my word, but then, things change...sometimes for the worst.

Fair enough. Sorry, I was feeling ornery yesterday...

If you don't care about losing $6000, packup and go.

Stay and do the two months. Maintain your sense of dignity. I sick of hearing people doing runners because there's something that grates them. Sure, if you aren't getting paid and are in some way being abused, then beat feet. However, this doesn't seem to be the case here at all; 'I don't like...,' and, 'I miss my...,' don't cut it in the adult world.

No sympathy from me, OP.

Did the boss change or something...if your workplace is that bad, why did you re-sign for a second year? Confused

You are old timer princess.

STAY.

Keep your reputation intact.

Rise above it.

Family will still be there in 8 weeks time.

Bingo! Things got worse in September this year and there is a new boss, too who annoys people and bothers is way more than the other boss did. Not to mention, they are making us all pay a bunch of back taxes, because they claim that the "payroll" people made a mistake with taxes. So, yes, things got much worse.
