| I thought I saw some Korean language programs for kids. At least that's what it appeared a child had on the subway. |

For the DS unit itself, you shouldn't be paying any more than 135,000W. I believe we paid 190 for the unit, an R4 SDHC with a 4GB SD micro card, a USB SD micro adapter, a case, and screen protector. Oh, and the 4GB card was loaded with English games. Shop around because I read others paid closer to 180 with all the above plus ear-buds. |

Just want to relay the going price that I paid today.
180 flat for
nintendo ds
the new r4 chip
4 gig micro sd with usb adapter
case
screen protector
some cheap earbuds.
I had the card loaded with Korean programs. I can download English games easy but have heard specific Korean programs are harder to find. The Korean programs include some cool things like an electronic dictionary program, English language software for the girlfriend, and subway maps for Seoul, Daejeon, Daegu, and Busan.
Lots of dealers were quoting 200-210 and were refusing to bargain. When we spoke about internet prices we were either told that's because those products on the internet are for inferior products or we were shooed away. These dealers are scammers and they would rather other customers not here the real price than sell to you at the right price. f |

With christmas just around the corner i'm looking to get my wish list sent off to Santa this weekend,and like many other boys and girls all over the world, i want a nintendo ds!
So i've been wondering whats the difference between the R4 and the TT?
Also i heard that times have been tough for Santa these days(economy fucked, etc), so i going to ask him to get the nice men in Yongsan to put some games on the sd card,
what games should i ask for?
how many games can fit on 4gb card?

Originally the main difference was that the r4 couldn't work with cards past the 2 gig mark while the TT could do the higher capacity cards.
However, people say that the TT is error prone. There is a new r4 now that can use the higher capacity cards.
A 4 gig cards can hold something like 90 games. Most of the retailers will just fill it up with a combination of English/Japanese/Korean games. It's very easy for you to add/delete games at a later point (just drag and drop). |

Beej, I'd go with the R4 High Capacity card. The interface is really simple, you can change the language to English (with an update on their website), and you can get different skins for it.

| By the way, make sure you buying a real R4....there should be a guide on the maker's site to tell you what signs to look for....because according to my brother, one of the future(or maybe current by now) firmware updates was going to brick "fake" r4s that some bootlegger was making in China and selling online. |

The company who made the R4 have pretty much stopped producing them. Other companies have picked up where they left off using their name, prominently the R4HC (High Capacity).
As long as you update firmware from the R4HC site, you'll be fine. In fact it looks doubtful that the original R4 will even release new firmware (v1.18) updates seeing as they've shut down - while R4HC's firmware has surpassed them at v1.25.

I'm looking to purchase a Nintendo DSLite in Yongsan sometime soon. First, I was hoping someone could help me out as I am a newb when it comes to buying/using the DS.
Is the difference between a modded and un-modded DS system, the easy access to hundreds of downloaded games?
Can you get your purchased DSlite modded at Nanjing Arcade?
I've read that you can get quite a deal for about 180,000원. So I'll shoot for around that price. Thanks for all the help in advance and to everyone whose written on this forum, all info. has been helpful! |

There's no physical modding of the DS system.
You buy a cartridge (or cart for short), such as the R4 or TT, which houses a MicroSD card. The downloaded games and homebrew software are loaded onto this MicroSD card, and then the MicroSD card is placed into the R4 or TT cartridge, which then slots into your DS. This slot is the same slot used for normal DS games cartridges.
So you can buy any DS Lite anywhere and use normal game cartridges or an R4/TT cartridge with no problems. I swop my R4 between my wife's DS and mine all the time.
