Just looking to confirm or deny what a friend of mine living in Japan just told me. Evidentally, the big figure skating thingy up in Seoul or somewhere, had a bit of a controvery... As I was in formed, while Mao Asada was skating, her music volume fluctuated up and down and at one point was off for 3 seconds, just about the time of her big triple whatchamacallit... Additionally, during the awards ceremony for the men, the winner's national anthem, in this case America, was played, but during the women's award ceremony, it was not (Japanese). Any truth to these accusations?

One of my Japanese students was trying to tell me something like that today, but I had no idea what she was talking about...

Now I (sorta) do.

It's the way the music is. Check Aram Khachatrian's Waltz from Masquerade. I haven't seen mental Japanese 2CH nazizens flipping out so maybe there is no such issue. As for the national anthem, I didn't watch the ceremony and haven't come across any complaints yet. It seems some newly uploaded youtube videos were taken down due to a copyright claim.

Happened a few years ago. The Taiwanese Little League team mopped the floor with the Korean little league team. They were basically asked to leave the country.

I gave the information I have to the OP regarding the music used for the show and you have no room to mess around. You can elaborate what you are on about if you are serious or everyone else will consider you a pathetic flamer.

Your response was "it is the way the music is" How can the 3 second gap be contributed to this?

But whatever, you don't think that anyone did anything wrong.. keep your head in the clouds, or in the ground like a stupid ostrich. Rolling Eyes

I am tired of arguing with those who make excuses for EVERYTHING.

Dude, you're trying to pick a fight with possibly the most level-headed poster on the entire board. If you want a real discussion get rid of the rolling eyes.

You mean you don't want what you believe (even without any ground) to be challenged and just want to keep your head in the clouds or in the grould like a stupid ostrich. Did you even check the music? Here's a youtube clip for you: Aram Khachatrian's Waltz from Masquerade. Be attentive especially from 2:40 to 3:00. And this must be the show we are talking about: 2008 Figure Skating Grand Prix Final Asada Mao. Just compare them carefully and then we can talk. When you want to say something with so much disturbing confidence, make sure to know at least a little about it.
