So would I be able to get my won changed into say 2 thousand US dollars without a passport ( getting a Chinese visa with it currently) at KEB?

At Dongdaemun Stadium station across from the National Medical Hospital area there are 2 local money converters. Not banks. No passport needed last time I was there. Often have better rates than the banks, too.

Outside any military base there will be many money changers. Not black markets, just shops that change money and do other things. Soldiers say you can get better rates by using the ATM on post by withdrawing dollars at the ATM and changing your money outside the gate.

Many of us do not know soldiers. I for one, think it is better to be around the military since that is the most familiar life to me.

Yes, those that don't have soldier friends, just hang around outside post until you see a white guy with cropped hair, ask him where the bar is, and go sit there until you make some. They are invaluable.

(not to mention, to all you non-Americans, they do their job so you can do yours.)
