So nice that Korea cares so much for the unemployed.

Perhaps they awarded him the money because for damages caused by a nude photo it published of a former art professor. I would imagine the same would happen back in North America. I would seek for damages as well.

Don't worry, the pics were crappy anyway....

Ms. Shin became infamous a couple of years ago for banging a member of the national assembly, faking a degree from Yale (of all places) and using it to get a gallery job........

The only thing I can say about this article is.....wow........so I guess if you have a fakie and a newspaper decides to smear your name in its pages, you can sue them in court......nice!.........

The photos i saw make her look like a saggy old ajumma. I think most Korean women just accept being photographed nude by their love as part of the game.

ummm....how?

Ok, so some newspaper gets their hands on some nude photos of a woman who is going on trial for obtaining a high position at an art gallery using a fake degree, uses them to smear her name in the mud and to turn public opinion against her....she gets convicted, but at the same time launches a lawsuit against the newspaper that smears her name while she is going through all that hell and surprisingly she wins a substantial amount of money.....

.....which could mean that if a person is caught for one thing (possibly falsifying their credentials) while a newspaper gets their greedy digits on, lets say, some photos of you seated between two girls with you seemingly groping them. They use these photos to purposely smear your name and use them to turn public opinion against you and others in the foreign community.......but lets say that you have the courage to go to a lawyer and start the process of suing the pants off the newspaper for openly slandering your name.......

.....please explain to me, using more than a phrase or a sentence fragment, how am I dense?

Yeah, I also agree. Newspaper could've outed her without using the nude photo of her. Highly unprofessional. That's not journalism...that's sensationalism, tabloid trash.

Mind you, not excusing her lies, but the newspaper should also be punished.

Because she didn't win the lawsuit for being "smeared". She won the lawsuit because they published nude photos of her. Her settlement had nothing to do with the fraud she committed or with the "defamation" she experienced in relation to that fraud.
