What a HUGE waste of time. Seriously pissed at myself for not walking directly back to the bus stop after signing in, this morning.

1st speaker: lets practice speaking in circles and contradicting ourselves... "I'm going to teach you how to interpret Korean smiles. Don't do it, you'll be wrong, it means too many things". "Our parents lived in the chosung dinasty". "Koreans don't talk very much, because they are aways trying to feel and sense each others emotions and share their emotions, that's why they talk so much."

Lunch! Heeeey you get to pay for it yourself, and try to get the school to pay you back. Stand in the rain for 30 minutes, and wait for crappy cafeteria food, or go eat a microwaved hamburger.

2nd speaker: Lets learn about classroom management in an imaginary, ideal society... where you can actually build rapport with your students. Why? Because there's only 10-20 of them, and you see them several times a week. Don't get angry... say their name softly. (Anyone memorize all 500-1000 of your students names yet?) While this works wonders in an ideal class room, the rest of us work for GEPIK. OOOOPS we ran out of time, so no questions please!!!

3rd speaker: Lets talk about a contract that doesn't apply to 99.999% of you, because you are already here on a contract. Lets talk about the great parts of the contract, and gloss over the negative things we changed. Heeeey we're out of time here too... no more questions.

4th part... go play traditional korean games, that even KOREANS find too boring to play. No one does it anymore. They learn about it in Korean class.

I didn't stay for the 5th part...

I got on a bus at 7:30am

I got off a bus at 7:30pm... and I ducked out an hour and a half early.

What could have possibly been a waste of time? 8 hours of travel for 5 hours of pointless speaking?

You, yes you, the guy sitting in the first (or second) row, right section, during the first speech...yes, the guy with glasses on his head...repeatedly and condescendingly interrupting to inquire about why little Korean boys touch their genitals-- you were F'N irritating (not to mention somewhat creepy). Next time, please STFU!

Our EPIK workshop presenters spoke no English and were told before hand by the POE that we all spoke and understood Korean. Everything had to be painstakingly translated back and forth by one of our co-teachers.

dain pae's accent sounds like kim jong ill mixed with crocidile dundee and the robot voice of the daleks from the long running low budget uk tv show doctor who, seasoned with just enough time spent in new zealand to earn a passport and missing or adding unessecary plurals and articles in her speech pattern...

i'm not shure if her accent should be added to the list of the seven wonders of the world or if she should be permanently prevented from speaking in public in english with that accent...
