How much can a 2-day stay in the hospital cost for a foreigner without insurance? Friend was a passenger in the back of a taxi when another car rear-ended the taxi and she suffered a broken rib and had to stay in the hospital for two days. She doesn't have insurance and is worried about how much the bill will come out to when they tally everything up. |

Maybe about 300,000 won. |

That's all? Apparently, they kept her in the hospital just to run some tests...to make sure she didn't have any internal bleeding or other injuries that weren't immediately detectable. But really all they did was bandage her up and give her a prescription for pain meds and then let her go after two nights. So the most expensive cost should be the hospital stay, right? Then there are the x-rays and the bandages (aka tape) for her broken rib. But only 300,000 KRW? That's not expensive at all. |

Has your friend already left the hospital? If so they should've given her the bill before she checked out or maybe the owner of the car who crashed into her taxi has already taken care of it. |

If she doesn't have the bill already then she most likely won't get one...they generally have you pay when you leave.
300,000 would be quite high I think. Surely it's more if you're in Seoul, but when my girlfriend was in the hospital we upgraded to a private room and it was only 80,000/night. |

My friend just got a full health check up and he paid 200,000 won without having insurance. I'm sure hospital stay will be much more than that no? |

Which hospital did your friend visit? 200,000 for a health check is insane |

The hospital I go to charges 2,500 won with insurance...it's like 8,000 or something without...that's just for a consultation of course, but I still laugh that it's cheaper to go to the doctor than it is to just buy over the counter meds. |
