Does anyone know how much it costs to call the states from your cell phone (LG is my provider)?
I realize rates may vary depending on your plan but in general how much does it cost? Or how much do you pay for it?
Is it just charged by the minute or is there also an initial charge for calling the states?

Also how much does it cost to send text messages to the states?

Don't know the specifics, but if your on a card/pp/phone I don't remember there being any apreciable difference between calling here or calling internationally. If your really concerned about it, use SKYPE.

If you use 00388, I think it's somewhere between 100-200 won per minute.

Get a PP phone card, that way you won't be surprised when you receive your bills the next month. I used soricard.co.kr to buy mine, 30-50-70K won cards and you can compare prices too. Ask a coteacher to help you out. According to the site the 'One Shot' card is cheapest for calls to the US:
Cell phone-> landline 70KRW/min
Cell phone-> cell phone 70KRW/min
