When I came here, one of the first foreigners I met told me he hadn't been home in 5 years. It kind of blew me away. Now I haven't been home for a year and I was curious about other teachers.

My feeling is that the ladies tend to visit mom and dad more frequently than than the fellows.

When was the last time you went home and how long did you go home for? What was your experience like? I'm getting ready for a little reverse culture shock.

Last time I went back home was this past August. My best friend got married and we also hit up Vegas for his bachelor party. It was great since I'm originally from Hawaii. I try to make it back once or twice a year but the past trip was my first back home in a year and a half. I'll be visiting again in June.

I think most things stay the same. My friends are still with their same girlfriends and the single ones are still single. They're at the same jobs. The only difference is that a lot of my friends are starting to buy their first houses these days.

I go home (Aus.) for about three weeks around this time every year. It's enough time to see the family and do a few errands. I'm lucky I've always had jobs that let me do this, and go somewhere nice in the summer.

I have been in Korea three years and have been home twice every year.
One trip a year the school pays for and the other I pay for or my air miles do. Very Happy

Every year or two for me. It's been 18 months now, and I'm hoping the won will improve for a summer visit in '09... Good news is my mom (now nicknamed 'Grandma' Very Happy ) is coming over here in February, so that's cool...

A guy I work with hasn't been home (Alberta) in over 10 years and doesn't have a plan to go any time soon.

I haven't been back to Canada in 12 years (the year those wicked ice storms shut down Quebec City - where my passport was stuck for several days!).

I've been to visit friends and relatives in the UK several times, but haven't been back to the homeland for over a decade, and no immediate plans to go back. It's been so long, Canada's pretty much a foreign country to me...

You must work at an elementary school. Their vacation starts Christmas. I work at an academy and feel lucky to be getting the week off. Most of my hagwon friends are getting shafted.

My folks married late and had kids late. Having said that, I was there in August. If I renew where I'm at, I'll probably go again, but this year, the first week of vacation in Japan, then to Canada.

I have no desire to visit Eastern Ontario/Western Quebec in the dead of winter, especially in light of last year's snow dump, and the weather forecast this coming week in Ontario of 'snowmaggeddon'.

it's true, chick who got dumped by korean dude who obeys his mom's every whim, or so he says, it's damn true.

Haha, there are people here who haven't been home since I was in elementary school. I've been here for 1.5 years, probably going home (for the first time) in June, then going to renew...
