I don't mind if this gets moved to the travel forum. I just would like to get an answer so I don't get surprised tomorrow. Doing a visa run to Japan, and immigration here gave my employer a confirmation number, but no blue paper, and said it's basically all I need besides $$$ and a photo or two. I tried to look up and confirm this just now, but all I can find is generally outdated info. Can anyone confirm that only the number, and not an actual form from immigration, is required? Thanks in advance.

If they gave you a visa issuance number, then that's all you need. If I am not mistaken, the blue form was only for public schools (I could be wrong about that though, never worked for a public school.) You will need to fill out an application form, which you might want to do ahead of time.

You can get the application form off the immigration website, or I posted it here:

Tokyo takes 3 business days, and Osaka and Fukuaka take 2 days.

also, remember that they are closed on Holidays, so if you go next week during Christmas, or the following week, New Years, it might take a couple more days. People have said to change your money here because it is not possible to change Won into Yen in Japan. This is not true, but, I would change it here. The airport money exchangers are actully banks, and offer the same rate as a bank does.

Let me know if you need anything else.
