Howdy folks!

What kinds of things have you all been getting up to in this nasty weather?

A couple of weekends ago some friends and I went to the Chicken Art Museum and tried to find the Owl Museum (supposedly they're right next to each other) but it was so effing cold that we gave up looking and went to a movie instead. Smile

What are your favorite cold-weather activities?

Ha, I was thinking more along the lines of unusual places you folks have found in Seoul that are nice... maybe out-of-the-way places. Chicken and Owl art types of places.

I think I have seen enough palaces and Korean culture museums to last me for most of my life. Smile

Samcheong dong/Bukchon is cool. North of insadong. Check out the Samcheong Gak teahouse, pricey but a good view. I think there's a shuttle.

It's the nicest, coolest art gallery in Seoul. One side has the classic art, and the other side is contemporary.

It's in Itaewon, Hangangjin station (exit 1). They have a good English guided tour every Sunday at 3pm. I highly recommend it, and it's never too crowded.

There is a little alleyway in Insadong. Go in there and have cheap Mokoli and Bossam with Potatoe pancakes.

The museum of contemporary art at seoul land is nice once in awhile when the weather is bad. The main part of the museum is free (but you probably wouldn't want to see it more than once or twice) and the special exibit section is only 2000 or 3000 won and always changing and always interesting. Its a nice place to wander around alone with your mp3 player for a few hours.

If you're really into depression go to Seodaemun Prison. After a visit, you'll say to youreself "Hell, my day isn't so bad afterall". Then head to a chicken place with a friend or colleague and have a toast or two. Otherwise take up rollarblading and venture over to Olympic Park. The view's quite nice.
