Since no one else has offered advice, I'll give it a shot:
If it's only temporary, you could consider living at a goshiwon, which is like a dormitory: small room, shared bathroom and kitchen facilities. They range from very cheap to a little on the pricey side, and rent by the month if I'm not mistaken. Almost exclusively found in university areas.
Another option might be a hasukjip, which basically means "boarding house." I've heard that two meals a day are included by the ajumma running it. Again, I've seen them around university areas, and lots of ads are placed on telephone poles, etcetera in those areas.
