Does anyone have any help specific to the question, without blowing their own trumpet? |

I remember there being a thread about a decent online TESOL certification program online, but I couldn't find it. Which website was that before? It was discussed heavily |

If you want something actually useful don't do an on-line one. If you just want the piece of paper for the pay increase buy the cheapest one that will give you a certificate saying you've completed a 100-hour TEFL course. |

18. How much does it cost to study in the AU TESOL Program? As of Fall 2007, graduate tuition is $1, 111 per credit hour. Undergraduate tuition is $1, 031 per credit hour. The TESOL Certificate is a 15 credit program. The MA in TESOL is a 36 credit hour program. The MAT:ESOL is a 39 credit program. In the Master's International Program, candidates only pay for 27 credits
Fuuuuck that, thats pretty expensive isn't it? I don't see any reason to go through them. |

That's right. U can go to Thailand and get a perfectly good fake for like 20 dollahs. But your lame ass may still not know how to teach effectively. If you do an actual, observed course, you could become a better teacher and learn a thing or two. Not that most places in Asian are proponents of the communicative method they teach in the course, but at least it gives you a new place from which to stand to look down on those places and see how wrong alot of their methods are. Or, I mean, if no one is observing your classes, you can just teach in a way that really causes your students to learn something.. imagine that. |

Thanks, those were very helpful, especially i4NI. I'm having problems with my connection because of the cut cables in the Med, and wasn't able to connect to the website Losing Touch posted.
I'm looking for the cheapest accredited MA available, and I was trying to help a friend who's looking for the TEFL cert. I've already done a tefl cert in Losing Touch's adopted homeland.
I think doing an MA is the logical next step to a cert, and observed practice is better than non-observed or online. But lots of people do unobserved MA TESOLs now, online, correct? What do people think about that?
And the eternal question, is it worthwhile taking the time off work to do an MA and lose a year or more salary? Anyway, this has probably been done to death on this forum. |

If you're between contracts, TEFL International in Thailand have a decent TESOL course. $1,700 with accommodation on the beach in Thailand for a month. I had a great time. |

I just finished an online certificate course, was 140 hours(it took me less than 12 hours total)
It costs around 400 dollars( for the foundation plus business english program)
You have to make sure you get a 100hour minmum course or it will not be accepted.
There is also a TESOL an Business English textbook included. |
